The Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines (ASLP), in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), through the National Committee on Library and Information Services (NCLIS) will conduct a seminar-workshop with a theme “Ahead of the Curve : Librarians at the Forefront of Transformational Change in Infrastructure, Collection and Services” in Citystate Asturias Hotel, Puerto Princesa, Palawan from 22 to 24 April 2020.
The seminar-workshop aims to prepare the librarians and information professionals anent to imminent transformational changes catalyzed by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, 21st century challenges and the dominance of Millennial generation. It specifically aims to:
- discuss the competencies and skills needed in response to disruptive innovation particularly in the areas of collection development, service provision and infrastructures of libraries
- suggest novel and forward-looking concepts that ensure continued relevance and reinvention of libraries and information centers
- apprise the librarians and information professionals of the posed challenges in the future; and
- to provide an avenue where policy recommendations in dealing with these inevitable changes may be constructively discussed.
Librarians, library administrators, support staff, teachers and students of Library & Information Science, consultants and other information professionals are invited to attend the seminar-workshop.
Seminar fee ONLY includes kit, meals (2 AM snacks, 3 lunches, 3 PM snacks, 3 dinners), certificate of participation with CPD points, and free half day city tour on 25 April 2020 Saturday.
