Ms. Consuelo M. Damaso (first ASLP President, 1954) became one of the full-time professors of Library Science on April 1, 1961 of the Institute of Library Science (now UP SLIS). She was appointed Acting Director of the Institute on July 27, 1961. She became the PLAI President in 1965-1967. She was awarded the Severino I. Velasco Award as Conference Chairman in 1965.
