ASLP CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR LIBRARIANS
- Rationale:
- ASLP supports the implementation of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Act of 2016.
- ASLP believes that updating of professional skills and competencies is necessary to continue the quality, innovative and responsive services that librarians and information professionals provide.
- ASLP recognizes that some members of the profession have limited capacities to attend seminars and conferences to gain CPD points.
- ASLP cares for the underprivileged members of the profession.
- Objectives:
- To provide opportunity for underprivileged members of the LIS profession to earn sizable CPD points.
- To create awareness on the noble intentions of the CPD Act and support its effective implementation
- To show that CPD providers can become proactive partners of the CPD Council of PRBFL in the successful implementation of the CPD Act
- To foster camaraderie among LIS community
- Criteria for Selection
- Open to Three (3) professional librarians [One (1) from Luzon (NCR not included), One (1) from Visayas and One (1) from Mindanao].
- Professional librarians who have limited capacities to attend CPD programs may apply.
- Membership in ASLP is not a requirement.
- Professional librarians working for a Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) espousing relevant social causes are preferred.
- Professional librarians renewing their license in 2018 are prioritized.
- Grantees should be willing to re-echo lessons learned from the CPD program in their institutions.
- Grantees should have good moral character

- Grantee will enjoy waived live-in registration fee (Seminar Fee, Accommodation and Meals) for ASLP’s seminar-workshop entitled “Catalyzing Multicultural Librarians: Opportunities, Challenges and Strategies in the 21st Century” to be held in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan on 28 February - 2 March 2018
- Transportation arrangements/expenses and other incidental fees will be the responsibility of the grantee

- Applications for assistance are limited to attendance in ASLP’s seminar-workshop entitled “Catalyzing Multicultural Librarians: Opportunities, Challenges and Strategies in the 21st Century” to be held in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan on 28 February - 2 March 2018.
- Please submit letter of intent and requirements through e-mail at aslplibrarians@gmail.com on or before 26 January 2018 Friday
- Announcement of successful grantees will be made on 2 February 2018 Friday thru email and other social media platforms.
- Requirements
- Letter of intent specifying how this seminar-workshop will contribute to his/her professional growth and benefit his/her institution
- Certification from employer indicating that funding for the applicants’ attendance to the said seminar-workshop cannot be accommodated.
- Certification from employer of the applicants’ good moral standing.
- Post-Grant Responsibilities
- Grantees must furnish ASLP an essay/article of his/her experience and the competencies learned fifteen (15) days after the seminar-workshop. These will be included in the ASLP Newsletter.
- Be a member of ASLP and/or support the advocacies, programs and activities of ASLP
