2019 ASLP Summer Conference Bohol
The Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines (ASLP), a PRC-accredited C P D provider, will conduct a summer conference with a theme “Bolstering Research: the Role of Librarians and Information Professionals in the Ideation, Use and Preservation of Outstanding Researches” at Metrocentre Hotel & Convention Center, Tagbilaran City, Bohol from May 22-24, 2019.
The main objective of this seminar is to jumpstart on significant missions for academic and special research librarians in this era of complex, digitally-powered information universe. Specifically, it aims to discuss methods where librarians and information professionals can encourage the proliferation of research culture; enhance library services and collections apropos of the organizational research agenda; and promote best practices and innovations in the promotion and preservation of these research assets.
Librarians, library administrators, support staff, teachers and students of Library & Information Science, consultants and other information professionals are invited to attend the Congress. Conference registration fee includes kit, accommodation, meals, and certificates of participation/appearance.Live-out

2019 ASLP National Congress
The Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines (ASLP) will hold its national congress with a theme “Archiving Heritage, Digitizing Memory : Trends, Innovations and Best Practices” at Hotel Essencia, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental from 9-11 October, 2019.
The main objective of this congress is to explicate the frameworks, approaches and technologies in digital preservation of cultural heritage and organizational memory. Specifically, it aims (1) to equip the librarians and information professionals with the technical know-how in establishing digital archives; (2) to discuss the methods and benefits of digital curation of heritage and organizational memory; (3) to introduce innovative and trend-setting forms of collection-based digital archives and (4) to gauge an understanding on data privacy and other ethical considerations in accessing the digital archives.

This year, ASLP moves ahead of the curve with a novel topic for the Manila International Book Fair happening on September. We believe librarians, information professionals and all and sundry must be kept abreast with the latest developments making noise around the globe. More than the awareness these developments radiate, we avouch the importance of its application and significance to our daily work.
You are invited to join us for a discussion on Blockchain: Revolutionizing Data Privacy and the LIS Profession with the following objectives: (a) gauge understanding on the concepts of blockchain, data privacy and the LIS profession; (b) assimilate connections and impacts of blockchain to data privacy and the LIS Profession; and (c) apply gained knowledge in our personal data protection measures and in our LIS professional practices.
